The minutes for the first Vulpine Hollow Townhall of 2013 are presented here for open public perusal, having taken place in the Fourth Wall from the hours of 2:00 PM PST to roughly 5:30 PM PST, presided over by Retna. Although disorganized, this meeting served as a useful learning experience for all involved, and provoked a great deal of food-for-thought, while also demonstrating strong community involvement on all fronts.

Contents of the Minutes

  • Front page needs a link to information about VH, in addition to Eka's staff.
  • Concern was brought up about the room reorganization creating cliques, if the activity gets divided up between the IC, IC/OOC, and OOC rooms.
  • Private characters that even mods don't know about was brought up, but quickly shut down as the mod guide will take care of this in the future.
  • The topic of the chat being more new user friendly, and making it more clear about the ways to be introduced to what VH is all about was brought up. Changing the Information button to "Wiki" or in general having more straight-forward links to the Wiki, Twitter, and News pages. Further, a /report function for users to bring forth complaints anonymously was suggested.
  • Retna called a halt to further invitations to people for the time being, to give the community a chance to stabalize.
  • Concern was brought forth over the vision of the chat and "helping folks build relationships", and how the moderator team plans to deal with that.
  • There was also discussion about the mod team not being large enough or qualified enough to handle the chat. Times were cited when no mod was present, or that the mods may have only been selected for popularity reasons. Including, but not limited to, how they conduct themselves in chat with certain situations and also outside of chat, and how this can reflect poorly on the chat itself.
  • Lots of discussion about how much role-play is too much, and when it should be moved, and what moving people would end up causing users to feel.
  • Also there was a complaint brought forward about trying to make the main room feel more homely and inclusive to everyone, and not having to log in to see something that frankly makes them uncomfortable.
  • A complaint was brought forward about user security for people who may have been bullied and stalked from other sites.
  • There also was discussion about what to do with the various copyrighted characters being played. Not just copyrighted artwork that people have been informed to not use, and what would be done about such.
