New User Registration Policy

  • As soon as the new system is implemented, user registration will no longer be restricted as it has been.
  • The new system will work on an invite based system, similar to how Gmail did it originally. Every user who has been active in the last month receives an invite. Randomly in consecutive months, so long as you stay active, you will get more invites. This is to help facilitate the speed at which people come in, so everyone can stay acclimated. If the system seems to work well, we may increase the dispersal to once every two weeks.
  • The maximum amount of invites you can hold onto at any one time is 3. If you go inactive for a period of 6 months or more, you lose your invites.
  • Invites will simply be a code that you are able to copy and paste, to distribute to someone who you would like to invite to the chat.
  • No immigration council, no administrative review. The moderator team feels that everyone is capable of using their best judgment. New users will not generate invites in their first two weeks, to give them time to settle in and see if this site is the proper fit for them.
  • Further, a Mentor Program is being instituted. Mentors get no additional powers, other than the ability to bring in new users without the use of the invite system. They are an outside point of contact, so someone who is interested in joining and somehow finds out about VH of their own volition, will be able to find them on the wiki, and get in touch with them to get introduced and invited. Mentors will be approved by whoever is in charge of the mentorship program, currently Kaoru.
  • The community brought up a bit of concern about how the Mentor Program will work entirely. The guidelines for such are still being ironed out and will be presented at a later date, when everything is more concrete as to how that system will fully work. If you are interested in contributing to the Mentor program, either via feedback, or being a Mentor, or anything else, please PUB or Whisper Kaoru.
  • The invites (once the system is fully implemented) will be on the Account Settings tab under your profile management. Invites are by account, not by character.
  • Invite solicitation is not to be tolerated.

Potential New Mod Community Feedback

  • Five candidates were selected: Kimmy, Landon, Jag, Ritter, and Cantara. Only three are to be appointed. If you have any concerns about any of the people brought forward, please communicate those concerns to a mod or admin either via PUB or Whisper as soon as you can.
  • The mod team presented Kimmy first as being friendly, welcoming, and open. Who works to accommodate others and helps create a positive atmosphere in the chat.
  • The community seemed to mutually agree and speak positively about Kimmy being added as a moderator.
  • The mod team next presented Landon as being even-handed and analytical. Also accommodating and friendly, while stepping in to assist and lead community events.
  • The community, while generally favorable, were worried about his availability and his ability to handle personal conflicts.
  • The mod team presented Jag, he was formerly a mod at the older incarnation of VH, and is seen as friendly, outgoing, and welcoming, with a good sense of humor. He's also been able to handle situations in chat, and has shown such.
  • The community seemed generally favorable, once more, but again, the concern was about his availability.
  • Next up for discussion was Ritter, presented by the mod team as being capable of having extreme objectivity. More or less being one of the more level-headed rules-focused people.
  • Community feedback was largely confused, not many people had much to say as they hadn't met him or had any interactions with him. Those who did, were positive on his addition to the team.
  • Finally, Cantara was brought for discussion, the mod team feels that she is approachable, good-humored, and has shown a heavy interest in guiding the community.
  • The community felt largely positive on her, those that knew her at least. Others haven't had an opportunity to meet her, as she is relatively new to the community.

Community Suggested Moderators

  • All of the people brought forward are to be further examined by the moderator team, but were suggested to be brought forward with reasons as to why they would be a good moderator.
  • Scree was brought forward. The community sees him as level-headed, defuses situations well, and helps out with the community well. Conversely, his defensiveness about topics that are personal to him could be an issue.
  • Poojawa was also mentioned, due to being available in the late night hours and real world "moderator" experience. Though, was also seen as potentially being less level-headed, withdrawn, or unapproachable.
  • Arokha was brought forward as being a mellow individual who people naturally gravitate towards.
  • Shiriko was suggested, but he promptly turned it down before further discussion could be made.
  • Wasd was given the same support as Scree. Although, it was unsure how he'd handle the stress.
  • Zalvine was discussed as being open and communicable. He provided some of his own negatives as having a very strong voice, and getting too involved in situations, leading to frustration if he cannot find a decent solution.
  • Ryxie was seen as very responsible, but may need some help with objectivity.
  • Tiake was mentioned, he mentioned himself that he's a good multitasker and has had to moderate a community of 300 before.
