  • Logs of chat in a group chat may be ready by anyone else in that group chat.
  • Logs of whispers are visible only to you and the user you whisper to.
  • PUB messages are visible only to the sender and recipient of the message.

Privacy Measures

  • Moderators do not have access to read private logs, at all.
  • Admins can choose to read a single day's chat logs of a single character at a time.
  • Any access of private chat is recorded in the moderator action log.

Chat Log Privacy Policy

Administrators may need to access private logs in the course of enforcing rules and safety. The policy for when an administrator will read logs is:

  • To check the veracity of a copy/pasted log section given to moderators, an admin can look at that day's logs to make sure its real.
  • In the special case of underage users: given probable cause that a user is underage their logs may be checked without permission. This exception is due to the severity of the risk brought on by underage users.
  • When legally required to comply with the laws and regulations of the United States.

Other Privacy

Passwords

VH passwords are stored using a one-way encryption that nobody can decrypt. Not even the system administrator can decrypt your password, if you forget your password it must be reset, it is impossible to tell you (or anyone else) what your password was.

Email Addresses

Administrators can view the email address you used to sign up for your VH account. VH will not sell or give away this information to third parties but may send you emails if you request a password reset or a chat issue requires us to contact you.

Legal Requirements

Note: VH also may make information available to law enforcement if required by law or court order. Our policy is to protect user's privacy to the extent legally permissible, but also to comply with the laws and regulations of the United States.
