In general, Kitshana Heavy Industries employees typically receive at least some level of nanotechnological assistance whenever they receive medical treatment. Often times, people opt to receive nanotech implants just in the event they need to have them programmed to treat some disease or other ailment in the future. They're generally harmless unless programmed to do something, after all.

In the case of Aronai, he received his hive implant when he was undergoing surgery as part of his transformation, and it keeps a steady supply of nanomachines in his system. The type he has is one of the more invasive ones: it's built a completely new circulatory system to move nanomachines around his body. He generally doesn't notice it, though people inside him may notice several thick black veins filled with nanomachines being ferried about.

What Aronai's nanomachines are programmed for, is not even known to him, aside from his reformation system. For some reason it seems like the records of his own surgery are generally kept secret. Foxes and their secrets...

At one point, Aronai had no method by which to reform. This resulted in a few close encounters with death that he'd rather not have repeated. To try to alleviate an untimely demise, Zalvine constructed him an addon for his nanotech system to give him the capacity to reform himself.

Though somewhat limited, the addon interfaces with his existing nanomachines to map out his body. If it begins to break down, the implant teleports itself away and begins constructing a new one. Upon detecting that his soul has departed, it yanks it over to the new body and re-merges them.

The downside is that the system needs quite a bit of energy to function, and does not use electricity. Rather, it was designed with a magic-user in mind and is fueled from mana. Aronai does not have any natural mana reserves though, and needs assistance from natural magic-users to refill this implant after each use. Ask him if you're interested in helping.

Upgrade 1: Delay Timer - Aronai can add a delay to his reformation, so that if he knows the pred is planning to reform him, they can reform him instead of using up the charge on his implant. Upgraded by MiniMike.

Upgrade 2: Efficiency Boost - Aronai can now reform twice on a single charge, thanks to some tweaks and a bit of a physical upgrade to go with it. Upgraded by Kotetsu.

Minor Software Tweak: Aronai can reform as any gender now! He's cboy by default, though. But sometimes he feels like he needs to plow somebody. Sometimes he might just get eaten, just so he can change genders and come back and mount up on them!

The infolink is built into the reformation implant that Zalvine provided to Aronai. It contains a multi-purpose web browser, music player, and chat program. Also has a proximity sensor for tracking which friends are nearby.

The information is presented on retinal overlays in his eyes, so it's not really visible to nearby people unless you are almost nose-to-nose with him. Even then, it probably just looks like flickering lights in his eyes.

If you see Aronai zone out and stare into space, he's probably replying to a message, or browsing or something. Either that or RPing on some chat website in his head.

Aronai has undergone a process called Apotheosis. In Apotheosis, nanomachines are typically injected into the body at the base of the skull, then over a period of time, they work to replace the brain with a system of interlinked machines aided by nanomachines, called a Mindset.

ABI was kind enough to perform this process for Aronai, once he located her. She used his own internal nanomachines with a bit of programming tweaks to perform the process for him. He also ended up with a few special features based on his usual behaviors.

Aronai can host a virtuality inside his Mindset. This is a VR environment he can recoil into whenever he wants to relax. He has absolute domain here, and can create whatever sort of environment he can imagine, though the processing capacity is limited to rendering about a square kilometer. Beyond that, it will generate a realistic approximation of the visible terrain as a fake skybox. It's accurate enough that you can't tell the difference.

Perhaps more importantly, he can brainscan prey he is digesting, and put them into this space as well. This doesn't prevent them from reforming, and he can merge their memories from time in his virtuality into their reformed body, when they do reform, at which point he'll drop them out of his Mindset. It basically runs a copy of them on the same hardware his brain is running in, though they're subject to his rules while he's in there. He can hang out with them and whatnot as long as they want.

Keep in mind that this is a COPY of the character's mind. They're welcome to stay with Aronai for as long as they want, to do whatever they want. The character's 'Prime' version will likely have reformed already, somewhere else. If they can't (which is unlikely since Aronai only eats people who can reform...) they can likely be reinstantiated from their mind backup, though it requires a lot of additional work and travel for Aronai.

Not so much a sign of any master/pet relationship, this silver collar given by James_bluewolf signifies friendship and comraderie. The fox and the wolf have grown close over the years.

The collar appears as a thin silver band, though it seems to thrum with magical energy, and even when Aronai isn't seemingly wearing it, one could still sense it if they had enough magical aptitude.
