Apperance

Having managed to stabilize the prototype of GMO Soldier for planets with sub-zero average temperatures, Dracofelis gelummilitus contains attributes from the arctic blue dragons (Draco frigus) endemic to New Terra, along with templates for fur and enhanced thermoregulation from two ancient Earth Prime species Panthera leo and Felis catus. First successful graft subject exhibits a layered pelt of scales and fur. The scales are on average 5mm in diameter, with hair follicles around the edges. The layered pelt is blue in colour, covering approximately 80-85% of the subject's body. From under the middle tip of the jaw along down the anterior of the body a run of thicker, yellow coloured scales has formed, interrupted only between the loins, and continuing on to nearly the tip of the tail's underside. These scales have no hair follicles underneath them. These scales give the functionality of a hardened leather breastplate, providing heightened anterior protection and thus protection of internal organs. Hands and feet sport sole/palm and digit pads of the thicker, leathery scales. The hand's claws are retractable, however the feet claws are not. Subject's skull and features reflect a decent spread of all species within the genetic template. The snout is stunted for a dragon's size, or elongated for a feline. The nose sports no pad and is more draconian in shape and nostril size, though the upper lips sport feline whiskers. It is unknown at this point if the whiskers offer the same function as on normal felines or something similar. Ocular nerve bundles and sensory cells in the eye indicate heightened bright light acuity along with superior night vision. They have a lower-than-average pupil response time to sudden changes in light levels, have a 'tetroid' pupil, and are amber in colour. Ears are relatively feline in structure and just as acute, though elongated more than average. Cranial horns from the dragon templates curl inferior, down towards the skull before turning back in a superior direction. Underlying anchors for the horns provide excellent cushioning for the skull for impacts. A mane of blonde hair has grown from the head instead of blue, extending down between the shoulder blades, though it gets shorter the further inferior it goes. The tip of the tail, however, sports a darker blue 'lion tuft' of fur. Tests have not shown results why pigment deviation has occurred; it is probably nothing to worry about. Along with the elongation of the spine to form a proper tail, the crafted D. frigus DNA has mutated the structure of the ribcage into a more keeled shape, and mutated the shoulderblades to support the musculature and bones needed for a set of wings. The outer edges of the wings have the blue scale-fur outer layer as the other blue parts of the body, while the wing fingers are completely subdermal. Wing membranes are a yellowish-grey colour, and are quite resilient to damage despite their overall thickness averaging 3.5 mm. Wingspan is not as large as D. frigus but in augmenting muscle strength the wingspan of 5.6m is adequate for short flights. Physiological tests results are pending. Yellow plate scales down middle are leathery and free of fur. * Face structure is mostly draconic with elements of felines like whiskers, nose and lip shapes, elongated yet still feline-esque ears. * Hair is yellow/blond. Sometimes he adds colour highlights for shitsngiggles * HOOOOORNS * Iris colour is amber, white sclera * Tail with darker blue lion 'poof' * Wingspan is 5.6 meters, inner membrane is yellow-grey * Reproductive tackle has blue fur and scales around it, interupting the flow of yellow platescales down the middle of his body and tail. Blue sheath. Penis colour is navy blue, sports a wavy, ridged appearance, and has a knot at full erection.

Physiology

While quite a few elements from the base Homo sapiens genome have been left in place, many traits from the chosen species for the prototype template have been added. Several tweaks here and there to everything have been made of course. While the fur from P. leo is not designed with cold in mind, a simple tweak to the follicles have made them closer to that of C. felis, specifically those breeds that lived in colder climes. D. frigus is of course insulated from the cold via their specialized scales, which include small air pockets to prevent heat loss. Scale integrity has also been increased by 15%. Ocular genetics have been largely supplied by the feline species, though the structure of the pupils appears to lean more towards D. frigus shape, with their unique tetroid eye shape, resembling a diamond with curved lines. 'Star-like' perhaps. pupil response is lower than average for all species involved, which will lead to reduced ability to adapt to fast light level changes. Still, the trade off seems acceptable for increased night vision, which includes the ability to see into the edges of the infrared spectrum. It is not true heat vision, but is the best we can do while retaining standard spectrum sight. Hearing is on par with all 3 species, that is to say, quite above regular human ability. Smell is also above-average from human levels. D. frigus has unique proprioception to aid with flight, which seems to have remained mostly unchanged. The most drastic change within the genetic template has been made to systems involving fight-or-flight responses and pain receptors. Since the template was designed with soldiers in mind, adrenal response has been enhanced, giving subject increased physical abilities. This of course comes with potential to over-exertion and physical damage. If the body continues to receive heightened levels of adrenaline, or damage considered near-debilitating or beyond, proteins are released from the adrenal glands that bind to pain nerve synapses, effectively shutting them off. The result is that the subject can push themselves harder and for longer. This of course means the subject is highly likely to sustain injuries they can't feel, perhaps even fatal ones. (tl;dr) * Adaptations for colder environments * Superior vision, including slight vision into the very edge of infrared, but has lower pupil response time. * Along with sight, all 'base senses' are heightend, including altered proprioception for flight * Increased adrenal response. * Develops insensitivity to pain when under stress for a protracted time, or is injured to the point where most creatures wouldn't be able to function from the pain. * Has a cuteness modifier of 1.6x
