Nightstalker

A creature of the Wastelands, perhaps not so well-known as the Deathclaw, given its restriction mostly to the region around the Mojave, but it is definitely feared of those who are aware of it. A hybrid between Crotalus atrox and Canis latrans originating from Big MT, it is generally canine in shape, clad in a thin, sandy fur with a salt-and-pepper mottling over the back and flanks, fading to scales at the base of the neck and root of its tail. These, rather than matching the canine nature of the rest of its form, are more akin to a diamondback rattlesnake; the head is triangular with thickly-muscled cheeks swollen with venom glands, one eye blue with a round pupil and the other pale gold with a slitted one, while the tail is thick at the base, tapering to that characteristic rattle, which it will use to try and ward off threats.

This one, oddly, seems far less aggressive than its kin, skulking about in a cautious manner, watching the goings-on of others with a surprising attentiveness, hinting at a much higher intelligence than its kin... Nor does it immediately act with belligerence on approach, but judges by behaviour, perhaps even approaching with cautious curiosity if shown peaceful intent... Perhaps there's something more than meets the eye to this critter.
