Average raven from an average life

Bertók is a raven, that much is plainly obvious upon meeting him. A rather tall fellow, he sits at a gangly 7'5'', towering a bit over your average humanoid height. He's covered all over, save for his forearms and legs, in thick, lustrous black plumage. The feathers seem to have a slight iridescent sheen to them. His wings are a separate limb upon his back, and when spread can reach a rather impressive 25'. His build can only be described as scrawny, with not really a lick of fat on him to speak of. As far as clothing goes he seems to favour wearing shorts of various styles, and often forgoes covering his upper torso due to his wings getting in the way. On occasions he does wear upper clothing, they are usually vests or wraps, again given the difficulty of fitting clothing over his wings.

A friendly face, a dark secret

Bertók was just another friendly face in his world's version of Vancouver, Canada. Working at the docks, he and his crew flit amongst the dangling cargo crates to ensure safety procedures and policies were met, and that shipments ran on time. He was liked by most, being easy to get along with and cheerful in attitude. Days off were filled with friends, games, and not a little amount of alcohol. All in all, an average joe. Something in him changed, however, a year or so past. He vanished for over a month, and upon returning kept almost exclusive company with a blue-n-yellow dragon-like creature named MiniMike. Many of his friends found this distressful at the least, for he didn't speak of his time away from society. What happened seems to be between him and this Mike character. His personality had shifted, becoming more aggressive, and not a little bit more ravenous than before...what had happened to this fellow?

Elathan

The disappearance was more sinister than his friends could hope to imagine. A plainswalking cult that had escaped Mike and his order for many years had set up shop in his version of Earth, and had begun dark experiments on the boundaries between thought and reality. Specifically targeting a realm where it is thought all forms of mental energy arise, rituals were used to attempt to bind the creatures that lurked there with subjects. Everyone was a failure, save for Bertók. If you could call it a success, anyways. The process nearly drove the raven mad, and it -certainly- drove the creature they were binding insane. Nameless before, the now twisted and cruel entity began to call itself Elathan. Elathan is a Syg, and when manifested on our realm look to be a roughly canid creature, with horns, eyes, and claws that glow in slowly shifting colours. Sygs are borne of the 'mental ink' of the realm, and can take on many appearances due to their liquid natures. Bonded to Bertók, the Syg can only manifest itself if the raven slips into a normal state of sleep, specifically REM sleep. His dreams twist to nightmares...and the nightmare begins for anyone unfortunate to be nearby when Elathan becomes dominant.

Possessed Appearance

Under the thrall of Elathan, Bertók's form twists to more closely resemble that of a Syg. Curled, ram-like horns erupt from the sides of his head, his beak elongates, hooks, and sports new 'fangs' inside. The mind ink runs and drips from his feathers, staining the ground with his cruel mental patterns. His eyes, beak 'fangs', tongue, and inner flesh, eyes, horns, and talons all sport the glowing, colour shifting patterns of regular Sygs.

TL;DR

Tall, prey/pred raven with a twisted, evil alter-ego creature possessing him.
