Vulpine Hollow was started from the seed of a simple idea - "There should really be a community-focused chat site where interesting and neat people could congregate, and not be harassed, and not be discriminated against, and not be at the whims of an unreachable and unreasonable administration." In short, a place for people who wanted to have fun and make friends and chill among like-minded, like-interested people, more or less, in an open-minded and welcoming atmosphere. That's a really complex way of saying people wanted a cool place to hang with cool people. There were a whole lot of cool people around, after all, and it seemed a shame they shouldn't have a place of their own.

== The Vision ==
Vulpine Hollow exists as a 'fresh start', to be considered separate from any other place to the best of our ability, other chats, websites, and communities. It is intended to be an awesome, familiar, chill place, where interesting and cool people of all stripes, shapes, sizes, spots, colors, species, and genders can hang out together. A place that is, as best we can get, free of major dramas, a place that encourages users to form connections beyond the scope of a single RP, and forge bonds that last and anchor them, to one another and to the community itself. It is intended to be a place that people come to in order to ''have fun'' with others who are creative, kind, imaginative, or just plain neat. It is a place that stresses open-mindedness, pro-social behavior, mingling, meeting, and lounging about. It is a hang-out, and a friendly space, and - more than anything - a home base for folks who have seen too many places that became festerpots of negative, put-offish behavior, cliques, and separatism.

We believe, ultimately, that many people's problems stem from how others treat them - not what they are, or who they are, or what sort of fur or skin they wear. As such, we'd like this to be a place where folks are treated decent, and want to be, and a place where we can all indulge our passions - be they games, or words, or music, or art, or one another.

This was, and is, our home, and we'll all be living together in it if we can make it a place worth staying. We hope you can find what you're looking for, here, whatever it is.

Many of the originators looked at their presence and the presence of others in the greater Furry and the smaller vorish community, and they saw that the greatest indicator for happiness and contentment, for productivity, and great, exciting, intimate, interesting experiences, was having close friends that you could come hang out and have fun with. It sounds simple, and it's ostensibly what all chatrooms are about, but yet there are many which seemed to lose their way, or lose track of this, and whose users wound up lonely, or unhappy, or not having fun to their fullest potential, as a result.
