Yazhi is a scruffy thing, a humanoid with reddish-tan skin... though there are several key portions that might clue one in to the fact that he is, in fact, not very human at all. He's small, around five feet in height with a wiry build, skin fading into dust-colored scales in some places, and similarly-colored fur in others. He's got a tail, too, long and serpentine, with a diamondback rattle on the very end, though, curiously, his arms and legs are covered in scruffy fur with feet taking a more digitigrade configuration. His face certainly doesn't take away from the 'scruffy' look, hair the same shade as his fur being left to grow long and shaggy, with eyes being a bright, reptilian yellow, with slit pupils. On occasions when it's visible, he also fairly obviously has a forked tongue. The question, of course, is where such a strange, mismatched individual might have come from.
The result of poorly thought-out gene-splicing experimentation in a research facility high in the mountains. Originally, the half-snake, half-coyote 'Nightstalkers' were developed as a more efficient replacement for dogs in home defense. Astonishingly, this did not go well. The resultant creature was vicious, intelligent, and highly predatory. So, of course, in order to curbe the creatures' malicious tendencies, they tried to splice it with human genes.
This was generally regarded as a bad move, and made a lot of people very angry.
