"Jerboas" like these were much larger in the prehistoric age, about the size of a small dog. The kangaroo mice having nearly fennec-sized ears and vulpine faces. Though aside from being a living fossil this one seems to have another oddity, a barely visable slit on his forehead. I wonder what that could be for?
