Shapeless

Experiment ID:
S.H.A.P. 31355 / Symbiotic Healing Adaptive Paste version 31355

Summary:
In disaster situations or long, prolonged survival scenarios either caused by war or by accidents, medical supplies often become scarce and deaths that could have been prevented happen. With recent advances in biotechnology and nanotechnology, this laboratory was able to create an artificial tissue, in a paste-like form, composed of stem cells. This paste, once applied to a wound, is able to adapt its cells to heal and regenerate the user in exchange of absorbing some of its healthy cells to be able to produce more stem cells later on. The process is painless and S.H.A.P. uses the host’s own energy to heal them and reproduce itself, leaving the user fully functional, if a little bit tired. It can also absorb toxins, hydrate and keep the user fed and even replace lost limbs or organs by keeping them in a stasis state if it is big enough. The intensity of the process can make S.H.A.P. unable to drain the user for replenishment, so it can be required to let the paste feed off another user if it becomes too small to use. The size of the healing paste dictates what it can do and the user should let it grow in size in case of an extreme emergency.

Discovered abilities:
-Replacement of lost superficial body parts like skin and flesh.
-Growth of lost important body parts such as limbs and organs.
-Suspension of user in a stasis state, with the ability to keep them alive until healing is done.
-Drain of healthy cells for energy and nourishment to be able to grow larger via stem cells reproduction.

Indications:
-Feed the paste until its quantity is large enough to cover the user in case of an emergency.
-Keep away from electrical current. It stuns and destabilizes the paste.
-Fire can be hazardous for S.H.A.P. if directly set on fire or if left in extremely high temperature for very long. Short extreme heat doesn’t bother the healing factor.

Problem encountered:
Experiment ID S.H.A.P. 31355 has adapted further than we expected. The experiment was to see if S.H.A.P. could heal a user’s brain injuries. To test this theory, we have brought in a male anthro lion left in a coma after it received brain damage in a car accident. With his family’s permission, we induced our product to infiltrate the host body and break the brain-blood barrier to be able to reach the damaged area of the brain. Like expected the paste had no issues replicating brain cells to repair the damage and soon enough, the host opened his eyes and started moving and speaking again. We also expected the paste to feed off the surrounding cells, from the skull and the brain as it always did. What we did not foresee however, is the paste speaking to us after the healing was done. It has gained sentience. Keep it contained for further studies.

Day 1:
S.H.A.P. is left in a containment room under surveillance. It speaks incoherently, moves around erratically. It doesn’t seem to need to sleep or to feed, but by moving non-stop, it is slowly killing its stem cells. It will need to be fed so it can grow again eventually.

Day 2:
After multiple days left alone, it has stopped moving. It is now really small in size, possibly able to fit in someone’s palm. It has realized it was killing itself. Starting procedures to get it fed. It is still spouting verbal non-sense.

Day 3:
Experiment is now quiet as well as still. A volunteer was sent in to feed the experiment. It is equipped with an electric gun and is accompanied by two guards with stun batons. S.H.A.P. doesn’t seem to react. We instructed the volunteer to touch it. It reacted violently by latching on the volunteer and dissolving his hand. Volunteer panicked, guards had to stun both experiment and volunteer. Wounded sent to the care unit.

Day 4:
S.H.A.P. has grown a hand. It now screams like the volunteer while it shapes itself a hand before returning to its paste-like state and going quiet. We will send another volunteer with a specifically designed electrical armor and two guards.

Day 5:
Volunteer is in the room and despite touching the experiment, no response received, possibly due to protective glove. We instructed the volunteer to remove glove, but it refused. It is understandable. We instructed the volunteer to lift the experiment and carry it somewhere else in the room. Experiment reacted by enveloping as much of volunteer as able and become solid to make him unable to move. Volunteer requested the activation of the armor and we did. Experiment became a paste again and volunteer was freed and escorted out.

Day 6:
We received a surprising new development today. The comatose lion, saved by the experiment, has returned to the laboratory when it inquired about what saved him and he learned it became somewhat sentient. He wants to volunteer to be able to see it and agreed to the risks. We gave him a protective suit and sent him in the containment room. He touched it with the glove, no response and without the glove which went strangely well. The paste seems to feed off of him gently. An hour later, the paste had grown to dangerous sizes and we requested the volunteer to leave.

Day 7:
Volunteer is back in the room and instructed not to touch or feed the paste any further as it could be hard to contain. Volunteer decided to engage a conversation with paste. S.H.A.P. keeps on speaking non-sense. No, wait... It is logical non-sense. It seems to choose its words in a particular order even if the order makes no sense.

Day 53:
For the past two months, volunteer lion has been teaching S.H.A.P. how to speak and it can learn. It was given the name Shapeless due to its gooey and pool-like shape. Shapeless agreed with it. Volunteer doesn’t even need protective suit anymore as Shapeless can request feeding on its own and is very gentle about it.

Day 71:
In the past few weeks, we have requested Shapeless to start healing people again and it agreed. It is doing an even better job now, able to detect wounds on its own and heal them at its own pace rather than exhaust itself. Healing takes slightly longer, but the results are almost always perfect leaving little to no scars even on large wounds. Shapeless requested to be let out, it was denied.

Day 84:
Shapeless is still working with us and heals patients willingly, but it has become adamant on requesting two things. It wants freedom or it wants to be able to search someone’s brain again. Either will make it happy. We are looking for a volunteer, but it won’t be granted freedom.

Day 87:
Volunteer lion, upon hearing of Shapeless’ requests, has decided to volunteer again to be probed by the experiment. He signed a waver stating that were a not responsible for any damage or problems that could incur and he says that Shapeless is not dangerous. Volunteer has been prepared and allowed in the room. After a short discussion, volunteer has rested on the ground, head on and eventually in Shapeless. Vital signs are normal. After a few hours, volunteer has been freed by Shapeless and even thanked by it. Volunteer seems fine and scan reveals no change or anomalies. Volunteer allowed home.

Day 88:
Shapeless is now standing in its containment room. It has the shape of the lion volunteer. It is testing its new limbs and appendages. Strangely, it has also grown tentacles and what seem to be detection tendrils. Head of the department thinks we have gone too far. Procedures to terminate experiment engaged.

Day 89:
Shapeless brought out of containment room on the pretext of allowing it some freedom. It seems to believe it. It is brought into a bigger test room. Room engaged and electric current of high intensity fills the room, turning Shapeless back into its original goo form. Phase two engaged, room filled with fire for an hour straight. Only ashes left. No sign of experiment.

Day 90 –Breach-:
Shapeless must have known. From the video feed, we have realized it left some of itself behind when we brought it to the new room. The remnants mimicked the colors and the texture of a floor tile to stay hidden. After the destruction of what we believed was Shapeless, it waited for the cleaning staff to show up in its containment room. It slips onto one of them and we have realized too late what happened. We found out when the cleaning crew reported feeling something wet under his clothes before the line being cut short with his screaming. We later found the cleaning man completely drained, but alive. Shapeless has escaped. It must be stopped.

Description:
Shapeless can mimic its environment to a certain extent, so be aware of that when looking for it. However, it has two shapes it will most likely be found in. The first one is an anthro lion. Its height and weight depends on how it has fed recently, but you will recognize it by its distinctive features. It is purple. Since it is able to change its cells to anything, it could looking like a goo lion of an actual furred lion, but we expect it to stay purple. In goo lion form, and maybe even in normal lion form, it will probably have tentacles sprouting from its back and from what should have been its mane. These tentacles are cyan and are quite powerful. Be wary of those. On top of that, he might be seen with tendrils sprouting out of his shoulders, neck and sides. We believe that the rounded tip of them are extremely sensitive and it can use them to hear, smell and maybe even see at a greater distance than any normal beings can. If it is the case, you will need to approach very carefully or it will detect you and flee. Its other form is less potent, but harder to spot or catch. It can revert to its original goo puddle form. In this form, it can move around very silently and oozes through very small orifice.

Abilities to expect:
-Shapeless can mimic any living materials it has encountered and change colors to hide if need be.
-Depending on how fed it is, it can be very strong, so stay out of reach.
-It can change its texture to be almost liquid-like all the way to becoming a solid. Be aware of this.
-Do not get caught by it as it can feed off of you. It has the potential to dissolve a host fully, potentially killing it.
-It can heal others and itself, as long as it feeds. Normal weaponry is little to no use against it. Remember to use electricity to stop it and fire to destroy it.

Shapeless is not needed alive. Capture or kill it as situation requires. It must be stopped.
