A critter of magic
If Scorch walks among this world, it isn’t due to the magic that happens when two creatures of opposite gender falls in love and proceed to share an intimate moment. The little critter was born through magic alright, but one channelled through weaving spells to alter and transmute their targets. A young mage, a few millenniums ago, had discovered the way to transmute two items together and alter their properties so they would mix together. For example, he could create a table and a chair as one item from the two objects separated and then changing its color to blue.
In Scorch’s case, he was the result of a similar experiment, by said mage, on living creatures. The young spell caster, innocent in the ways of thinking ahead of the consequences, had decided to go outside and try his spell on the first animals that he saw. In this case, it was a foraging racoon and a hunting fox. The two animals yelped and whimpered when they were dragged toward a big magic floating ball, but the young wizard wouldn’t let that deter him from trying his new spell.
When the mixing was over, a hybrid came out. The creature, not yet Scorch, was ugly and misshapen for the most part. His hindquarters and shoulders were a bit bulky, taking from the racoon specie while his legs were thin and graceful, from the fox. His head was round and elongated, like the fox, but he had racoon eyes and its ears. To complete the beast, its fur had spots of brown, black, orange and white with half a mask painted around its eyes. The boy was repulsed by the result.
It took a few years for the wizard to perfect the spell to be used on creatures, during which time, the beast was kept in a cage as some sort of grim reminder of the first try. The now young adult gave another chance at transmuting the beast, but this time, he didn’t need anything else than his previous creation. He let it out and cast the spell. When the glowing ball of magic appeared, the fear of both animals that composed the beast struck at the same time. It panicked and pounced away from the magic and toward the caster as the pulling began. The man, too focused on keeping the spell up, couldn’t push away the beast properly and it clutched to his clothes with the strength of despair. The spell caster only had time to curse the beast before the spell pulled the hybrid and the unlucky human with him, into the ball.
No one knows how long it took or how it happened, but while the ball was folded on itself after the one casting it was swallowed by it, it reopened by itself eventually and that is when Scorch came out. The new hybrid had the sentience of a man, the now almost perfected hybrid body of a racoon and a fox and a beautiful orange and red, the color of the wizard’s robe, fur covering its body. Brown stripes also decorated the fur.
Small, warm, cute and immortal
Scorch never retained any memory of the human he was mixed with nor does he remember the life of the two animals that compose his genetics. The hybrid is a small creature, standing at 4’ tall when standing bipedal on his hind legs or about 1’6 when on all fours. Being created from magic, his weight varies often, but can be averaged at around 100 lbs. As Scorch was born from magic, it would be expected that his physical form might be just an illusion, but it isn’t. It can be felt, it radiates warm, it bleeds when cut and Scorch still need to breathe and feed. The only hint that magic brings him to life is that he doesn’t age or grow.
For those who are spiritual, Scorch also has a soul, which could be unusual from a being created from magic, but his soul is linked to the magical plane from which he was born. Any basic magic user can sense that the hybrid is no ordinary creature, if his weird specie or his fur color wasn’t a big enough indication already. Due to this fact, not only does the critter doesn’t age, but it has been proven that if his physical form dies in a way or another, the critter is reabsorbed in the magical plane and rebirthed at a random, later time. The way this link works is unclear and the consequences on Scorch are also unknown.
A curious, loving, loveable and trusting animal
Scorch is sentient, but having no known origins, the critter has an insatiable sense of curiosity. Anything new to him attracts him like honey attracts flies. His large foxy ears pick up any pieces of gossip and every little secret whispered around him. Gathering knowledge, useful or not, is one thing that the little magic beast thrives on as much as food.
Being born from magic, though, has both its advantage and disadvantage. Since he’s still a living creature, Scorch feels the need to love and be loved just like everyone else. The trick is that he never has felt the tender embrace of a mother or the warm feeling of accomplishment of a proud father. Due to this, the hybrid creature craves any sort of attention given to him. He will happily be a pet, a child, a toy or a pillow for a few more seconds of love from whoever gives it to him. It can make him a bit clingy though.
Another quirk from the magical animal is that he seems to retain little to no life experience either from what he has lived up to now and whatever life those who are mixed within him had. Because of this fact, the critter can only trust his instinct, so he can be fooled rather easily. If he finds that can trust someone though, that person might have made a friend for life.

It is important to note that this character will always reform, but due to the random nature of his reformation, it can happen in or out of roleplay. Scorch can also remember or forget about the events that led to his death, according to partner's preference.
This character is open to all sort of relationships including, but not limited to pet/master, child/parent, brother/sister, mate, etc. These interactions are canon to his story, but might happen at different times on his time line. Do not be offended if he shares a similar relationship to more than one person.
