Salil

Salil, visually, may not seem like much. In fact, for the vast majority of the time he appears visually as nothing more interesting than a pool of translucent, pale blue gel, with a fist-sized crystal suspended in it that carries a darker shade of blue. When he actually makes an effort, he takes on a slightly more humanoid form, the torso, arms, and head of an androgynous human forming out of the stuff, typically with longer 'hair' that keeps dripping down into the rest of him, with everything below the waist forming aimlessly together. This is, of course, largely cosmetic; he could certainly adopt other forms, and frequently does, but this one seems to be his 'favorite'.

Salil is the variety of monster colloquially referred to as 'slimes' or 'oozes', having a significantly higher intelligence than the norm for his species (although many would still consider this to be below human average). He's not the brightest bulb in the shed, but he makes up for it with a surprisingly gentle demeanor and a great love of physical affection. This does tend to be problematic at times, since his body will naturally slowly convert organic matter and fluids into more of itself over time, although thankfully this process is reversible, just requiring time and effort on his part.

Another thing important to note about him is the presence of his Core, a crystal about the size of a human fist. Were one to touch it, they would find that it has a slight amount of give to it in spite of its crystalline appearance, as though it were made of a soft rubber. This 'core' is, in essence, everything that makes him, him. Extraordinarily resilient to nearly all forms of damage, so long as it remains intact, he can reconstitute himself by simply taking in liquid. It does, of course, have a weakness. The core itself is his 'body', with the ooze surrounding it being merely a shell he creates. Physically, it's very sensitive to touch, and if separated from his 'body', it will collapse into inert goo within a few seconds. For this reason, he does tend to be very protective of it...

Salil isn't the brightest bulb in the shed. He's most certainly a genius of the highest order in comparison to other slimes, but still quite a bit slower on the uptake than baseline humans, often absent-minded and lacking understanding of basic concepts like personal space. Quite often, too, he forgets the effect his body has on organic matter, especially when caught up in the moment of attempting to lavish his unique brand of physical affection on a new 'friend'. When introduced to his body, living creatures often find that over time, usually a period of about fifteen minutes to half an hour, their bodies are slowly converted into the same translucent gel that makes up his form. The process is, ultimately, painless, and the only real side effects include a loss of control over their own form, but living beings affected in such a way still remain conscious, and usually report increased physical sensitivity, even capable of speaking if they want. It's easy enough for him to correct the 'problem', he just... has a tendency to forget, unless reminded.
