Name: Rirokkaz Kikhmeex Location of Birth: Spire of Ishinka Gender: Male Species: Ra'zishak (Ra-ZIS-hak) Height: 8'6 Weight: 257lb Occupation:Starpriest of Kor'kiri Physical Description This, is a Ra'zishak. Males stand at roughly eight and a half feet while females stand at a mere seven feet comparatively. Males are also the most colorful of the two, with feathers spread across the color spectrum; hot pink, purple, blue, red, yellow, black, for instance. Females, conversely, take on more earthy browns, tans, blacks and grays, and tend to have somewhat frailer builds than their male counterparts. Both genders appear to be equally as intelligent, and both genders share the same spectrum of eye colors which can vary from dark brown to a vivid teal, just like Rirokkaz's eyes. Rirokkaz has plumage of dark purple and teal, with a line of black feathers stretching down his spine from the shoulderblades and ending just before his four foot tailfeathers. His forearms, handtalons, throat, chest, groin and his legs from the knees down are covered in a tough, dark yellow hide, and his talons and beak are both black in color. His long crestfeathers are decorated with beautiful baubles and a golden beak-sheath that ends in a nasty point. His body is normally covered in ornate gold-studded robes not unlike what you can see in the picture above. Psychology Rirokkaz Kikhmeex is a very analytical thinker. He tries to break down every problem he faces in his head before he takes action, which can sometimes leave him lacking in time critical situations. When he is able to plan ahead he does excellent work, however when forced to improvise in stressful conditions he is prone to freezing as he attempts to think his way out of the problem rather than acting on instinct. He is a very traditional Ra'zishak, to the point of being slightly xenophobic at the thought of foreign ideas filtering into the Ra'zishak society. He lives by the Proscriptions, faithfully believing them to be the teachings of Kor'kiri himself. Rirokkaz is known to be rather gregarious with his own people, and the occasional alien as well. He's happy to make small talk with anyone if he can manage it, and he tends to come off as a fairly polite guy, for a giant bird. Above all else, he values knowledge. Perhaps the only other thing that comes close to his lust for knowledge is his lust for physical pleasure; he's known for being somewhat lecherous with slaves, and if he can help it, other Ra'zishak as well. |
The Kor'kiri Nomads Society of Nomads The Ra'zishak--'We Soar'--are a nomadic alien race, never settling down in an area for any longer than a few decades. They have no true home but their grand Spireships, of which there are thirty six in existance. These spireships serve as massive Arks, holding within them massive chunks of their former home planet and the ecosystems that came along with them, along with extensive 'Gene Libraries' that catalogue the species of their homeworld and those that interest them on their travels. These great spires travel the vast gulf of space on ancient jumpdrives that are capable of propelling them from star to star in their endless search for Ka'kalxi--'Our Paradise'. The Ra'zishak only stop long enough to mine fuel, ores and gather the materials necessary to continue their journey into the stars. In star systems that are occupied, the Ra'zishak are known to trade away their technology and crafts to interested buyers in exchange for food, spirits, raw materials, and sometimes even livestock or alien slaves. Because of their nomadic nature, there are Ra'zishak artifacts scattered all across the stars. They can be as mundane as simple artwork, music, or even as complex as abandoned drilling rigs and Ra'zishak energy weaponry. The Proscriptions of Kor'kiri The Ra'zishak are what is most comparable to a caste-based patriarchal theocracy, ruled by the Grand Talon of each Spireship under the Great God of Wind, Fire and the Skies Kor'kiri. The Grand Talon is a caste all his own, and there can only ever be one on a Spireship. The title is handed down in a simple agnatic, papal elective method where the Starprists gather and elect whom they believe to be the most viable and worthy successor based on merit and age. The Grand Talon rules his people through the Proscriptions of Kor'kiri; the written word of their God and Savior, and the very text that divides their people into working castes. This text is the holy law of their people, and its words can only be altered or added to by a vote of over two thirds of the collective Starprists across the galaxy; time lag makes correction and addition to the Proscriptions very difficult. (That which is contained within [brackets] is a clickable, expandable button. The listed castes are in order of importance; The Ai'kaxi being the most important, the Ra'shuki being the least.) [The Grand Talon (Ai'kaxi)] ["I Lead"] [The Starpriests/Academics (Ra'savini)] ["We Test"] [Soldiers/Police (Ra'kana)] ["We Protect"] [Merchants/Foremans(Ra'drokan)] ["We Trade"] [Commoners/Laborers(Ra'salvai)] ["We Work"] [Guests/Non-Ra'zishak(Ra'shuki)] ["We Watch"] Slaves are the lowest of the low. They're not even worthy of having a caste. Most slaves are not allowed to speak or allow their faces to be shown in public, and all slaves are of differing species. There are no Ra'zishak slaves on Spireships. A slave is property to be used by the owner however he wishes (only males can own slaves). Most slaves are traded for; some are captured after being caught in the attempt of stealing from the Ra'zishak. There are usually no slaves taken during the rare Ra'zishak military operations. The caste system is not as rigid as the outside eye might believe; endogamy is the practice required by the Proscriptions, hoever when a man comes of age, they are taken to the Starprists and given the Test of Kor'kiri to evaluate their psyche. Once the test is completed, the Starpriest decides the caste of the man and assigns him to it, where he will work for the rest of his life. He may come back and retest once in his lifetime, but afterwards the descision is final, and he may never change again. Women may only be of the Ra'salvai caste, unless they are aliens (in which case, they would be Ra'shuki). Punishment for breaking the Proscriptions is brutal. The most common punishment is having one's wings broken and crippled for life, although there are more painful punishments for more severe crimes. Rapists have their beaks shattered by a hammer, for instance, and murderers are hung by talonscrews (Think thumbscrews) and they have every single feather plucked from their body until they bleed to death; a slow, and agonizing way to go. Art and Music Art on a Spireship mostly revolves around whatever renewable resources are on hand, which usually happens to be wood and livestock. Leather crafts, painting, wooden crafts, instruments; they're all essential to the culture of the Ra'zishak people. Music plays a particular role in both everyday life and religious activities. A choir is often accompanied by string and percussion instruments, although wind instruments are few and far between for the Ra'zishak due to their lack of lips. Their voices tend to carry, and male and female alike have a huge capacity for mimicing sounds across the vocal ranges. |

[OOC notes] The Ra'zishak and their universe are, for the most part, my idea. You're free to borrow from this profile within reason. This universe is open to any and all, and will constantly be under construction. |
