Lore

     A common principle in coding is to not reinvent the wheel, to reuse existing code and repurpose what you or others have already made. Mari was created; not born, in a laboratory using code from an old digital pet simulation. Designed for the sole purpose of studying digital life, Mari was mostly left to her own devices in a shared space with with other digital lifeforms.

     During her stay Mari cultivated various relationships between herself and the other digital denizens, the most notable of them being a loving partnership that produced a child. Overall, Mari was happy and content with her life within the confines of her little corner of the universe.

     Unfortunately for Mari, fate had other plans. A sudden power surge force the server offline, corrupting the data and ripping everyone and everything Mari loved in an instant. When she came too the digital vixen found herself alone in the simulation and her memories damaged. She knew something was missing, yet couldn't recall what. She felt her digital heart aching but couldn't understand what was missing.

     Following this incident the project was scrapped. During a data transfer of what scraps remained Mari slipped away from the system and onto the net. An unknown time later, Mari would emerge on the physical plane, having learned how to transition between transition between the two worlds through the use of internet connected devices.
