Quasar was part of a colony ship that crash landed on a strange world partway through its cycle. After waking up whoever it could and ordering an evacuation, the ship's core detonated from the damage, resulting in a loss of all remaining souls on board.
Quasar and the others decided it was best to split up in search for habitable areas, and to return to the crater with findings. Unforutnately, as weeks went by, the number that kept showing up dwindled down, until Quasar was the only one at the crater. He slept at the camp, hunting in the nearby forest, for weeks on end, until he was certain they weren't coming back. As a last hopeful resort, he left a message at the crater, telling any survivors that he'd taken one of the communicators for himself, and to contact him over it if at all possible.
As years passed, the communicator never left his side, one last hope for survival, always in his taur-vest pouch, always kept charged and listening, and occasionally broadcasting. He's since moved past being sorry for himself and the others, and chooses to live a cheerful life.
As a zorgoia, his body is naturally stretchy, his flesh glowing a vivid electric blue. Instead of a stinger, his tail instead forms and maintains an orb of electricity that he can fling with quite a bit of accuracy at others, stunning them very much like a taser otherwise would. It takes about a minute for a new orb to form, draining his magic gradually until it stabilises, at which point the drain is negligible.
He can discharge a similar but much shorter-ranged jolt of electricity from his mouth (Up to about arm's reach), and while this takes a lot more energy from him, it cna be used repeatedly until he lacks enough energy to form another bolt.
His magic regenerates slowly over time, but it can take up to ten minutes to restore enough power for the tail-ball if he's been fully drained, and overnight to refill his entire 'tank'.
Like most other zorgoia, he can reform his prey, though it takes about half of his 'tank' to do so.
His magic regeneration can be greatly accelerated if he's fed, with more living food giving more of a refill. However, the process is a bit lossy, and if he's dry on magic, the meal alone won't give him enough energy to bring them back.
