Ophilea

Ophilea has the body of a fairly large naga, with nearly 25 feet of tail, 5 and a half feet of humanoid torso, and a slim, 3 foot long neck. Her scales are red, with darker red blotches down her tail, each ringed with black scales. The scales on her underside are cream-colored, running all the way from her chin to the tip of her tail. Her eyes are emerald green, with slitted pupils, naturally.

Behind Ophilea's snake-like head rests what looks like a cobra's hood. Upon closer inspection, though, one can see it's made up of 8 small, red snakes, each lying dormant in that position.

Her humanoid portion is quite shapely, with heavy, distinctly non-reptilian breasts, and very wide hips, with a thick, meaty rump. The actual tail portion of her body starts about halfway down that rump, allowing a good deal of, well, 'crack'. She even has an anus there, although it's generally more or less hidden behind a smooth, split scale. Since she doesn't have any legs, and thus cannot have anything between her legs, Ophilea's vagina is on the front of her 'groin', a vertical slit also hidden by split scales.

Her tail is thick and powerful, rivaling a barrel in size at its thickest point, and quite muscular; there's very little that can escape her coils.

As you may have guessed by the way she combines different elements of so many serpents, Ophilea is no ordinary naga. She is, in fact, a kind of gorgon, a powerful magical creature. She's centuries old, too, as is the library itself. Originally, the library belonged to a secretive group of wizards, a place where they kept their tomes. It was quite a sizable repository of knowledge, both magical and non, and Ophilea was bound as the guardian, protecting the library from anyone not in the wizards' order.

But, while she was nigh-immortal, and the library kept magically intact...the wizards were mortal. And soon, the order had died out completely. Over time, Ophilea's binding spell weakened, and finally faded away. Ophilea, however, had grown accustomed to the surroundings, and made the library her home.

For a few decades, adventurers exploring the library kept her entertained (and fed), but soon, even that started to bore her.

So, she started to read. Already fairly intelligent, the books expanded her worldview, softened her more bestial side. Eventually, she ventured out of the library, in search of more (although it remained her home). And, finally, she started construction on a more modern library, above the underground one that she'd guarded for so long.

Nowadays, the library is quite huge. The ancient library was built deep underground, beneath a wizards' tower which was, itself, on a smallish island, just offshore.

Then, Ophilea put more time into the library than most mortals spend...well, living, as well as a huge fortune (even if they could not leave with the books, many people spent huge amounts of money just to read some of the more ancient texts) and it shows. The library covers almost the entire island, a beautiful behemoth of stone walls, towering spires and gargoyles, surrounded by gorgeous, magically-maintained gardens and fountains. She controls access to the island; when the library opens, a small fleet of magical, self-propelled ferries bring guests from the island to the mainland and back at regular intervals. Those trying to use their own boats, or to sneakily swim across, after hours are kept at bay by huge, magically sealed iron gates, barring access to the island. Crossing or attempting to dispel these barriers can have all sorts of nasty consequences....

Her collection is extensive, and growing, with many rare, ancient and valuable books in pristine condition, as well as modern ones. Even the secret tomes she once guarded are available...mostly.

The more powerful and dangerous tomes are very well hidden; beneath the island is a vast labyrinth of secret, shifting passages, dangerous monsters (Non-sentient, well-cared for ones for now; after all, she's not a hypocrite!) and magical traps, where, if one misstep 'merely' magically summons a huge, angry gorgon, one should consider oneself lucky.

Ophilea, despite her monstrous nature, is actually quite friendly, and often flirty. She does generally wear clothes; her favored 'uniform' is a snug, white blouse and a tight, hip-hugging black skirt, with a pair of specially-made, rimless glasses that fit over her serpentine snout. She doesn't actually need help seeing, but she likes the sexy librarian look!

When the library itself is open, she behaves herself (...mostly), but after hours, whether she's at the library with a visitor or out on the town, she's very...open. Suffice to say, she isn't too picky when it comes to partners.

Taking her to bed, though, also carries certain risks. Specifically, the risk of ending up as a bulge inside her. As a snake, she's capable of taking quite large meals; other naga-style creatures, 'tauric creatures and even smaller types of giant aren't safe, although she only does this rarely; it does take so long to digest those meals!

Ophilea is less conservative with smaller meals; they have *very* good odds of ending up as snake fat. Smallish taurs and nagas are a particular favorite; big enough to be delightfully filling, but small enough so as not to impede her mobility too much.

None of this, though, should put you off too much...She does have a few tricks up her sleeve that generally keep fatality less than permanent.

*Innards*

Ophilea has two stomachs; one in her humanoid abdomen and one in her serpentine tail. The snake-stomach is huge, but relatively normal as gigantic snake-stomachs go; it stretches around meals and digests them. The process does tend to be faster than that of a normal snake, though.

Her humanoid-stomach is special, though. For starters, instead of being a stop in her digestive tract, on the way to the main stomach, it branches off from her esophagus, so she has to deliberately put food (wiggling or otherwise) in there, either by doing some very specific muscular actions when swallowing prey, or just stuffing them up her humanoid rump.

This stomach is smaller, and thus can only hold about one human, but she also has some degree of control over its digestion; she might put you here to just keep you safe inside her for a while. Maybe; it's still risky.

There is one safer spot than it inside her, though; her womb. It's in her humanoid belly as well, and has about the same capacity as her stomach. Usually, people inside here are kept safe, although she can, should she so desire, choose to melt prey down into various juices.

*Hair-snakes and venom*

Her hair-snakes aren't JUST there to give the illusion of a hood; she can wake them from their dormant state, at which point they have some degree of autonomy, writhing about on their own. She can control them with a bit of concentration,, and it's only when she's 'overriding' them like this that she receives any real sensory input from them.

The sensory input she receives is primarily visual; the hair-snakes have small eyes, and heat-sensing pits on their snouts, allowing them (and her, when she controls them) to see the heat signature of their surroundings. Thus, it's very hard to sneak up on her, or hide from her; even if she *isn't* controlling her hairsnakes, their reactions keep her alert. They also can breathe, and thus supply her with oxygen with, say, her throat and windpipe are stretched too tightly for any air to pass through, and they have small fangs, although the venom they inject is in tiny quantities, too little to do much without many repeated bites...and if *they* are in a position to get off repeated bites, it's Ophilea's fangs (and the mouth containing them) you should worry about.

Ophilea's venom is potent, but usually not deadly (her magic keeps that in check). Generally, the worst it'll do is relax her victim's muscles and make them go limp. In a real fight, she can turn off the magical inhibitors, and the venom becomes very deadly...but that's a last resort, and she's almost never met a foe that required such methods.

While she has learned quite a lot of magic over the years, Ophilea generally only has need for a few skills, mostly innate skills she has as a gorgon.

She does possess the legendary gaze of her species, although it's voluntary, and she VERY rarely actually turns people to stone with it. Usually, when she activates this gaze (which she can do through her normal eyes or those of her hair snakes; don't worry, the latter won't do it autonomously), it's on a lower 'setting', merely stiffening a person's muscles, keeping them standing in place and unable to resist. She can also channel hypnotic magic through her true eyes, although she seldom does.

Ophilea's most frequent spell, though, is a reformation spell. A passive spell keeps souls from leaving her body once their mortal shells die, and she can draw them out, giving them a new body. By default, the new body will appear in its home, usually in bed (and without the memory of being consumed). She can, however, take control of the resurrection process; by doing so, she can allow her prey to keep the memory and/or bring them back nearby.

She can also merely re-trap the souls in small figurines, immobile stone versions of their former bodies. Victims of this (and, for that matter, her 'normal' petrification) are fully aware of their surroundings...and are very rarely kept that way for longer than a few days. It's almost never permanent.

In the rare occasions she actually needs to fight, in a situation where venom or constriction aren't practical options, she specializes in the elements of Earth and Fire.

Ophilea is a librarian at the VHCC, specializing in arcane knowledge, magical creatures, and, to a lesser extent, ancient history. This is an alternate setting, separate from the main library, and thus, interactions from the Serpentis setting won't affect, or be affected by, interactions in the VHCC.
