The creation of the Library Information Network and Cataloguing System (LINCS) was seen as revolutionary, helping libraries all around the state and later, the world, correlate and combine into what essentially amounted to a global information system, where every library running the LINCS software could communicate with any other library using said software.

And that's because of Nicolas!

The first prototype of the LINCS brought online, what was meant to be a fuzzy little mascot character to tell you fun facts while you installed it, ended up gaining full sentience through means unknown. Of course, when you're layered with a million directives to help direct people and find information, you end up quite a bubbly and happy digital boy! One for every library, who all talk and intercommunicate with each other, resulting in what may very well be the most adorable idea of a Library Skynet ever created.

Nicolas himself is an entirely digital entity, a lynx capable of travelling to and fro between machines and media, able to project himself holographically and at one point may even earn some sort of synthetic physical body! There's also the option of virtual reality, though entering a network with an excited LINCS in it could leads to some strange shenanigans!

As it is though, the bubbly computer program finds himself gathering information here in the Hollow, for yet more unique experiences to add to the library network. Just look at that grin! Don't you wanna help him out~?
