Fantasy Background
Nat was born into wealth and power as part of a minor noble family, destined to be the wife of some count or duke that her father could use as a powerful ally. But as a child she was always on the wild and somewhat violent side of things, sneaking off around the castle and surrounding village to mingle with the lowborn. She learned to evade the guards and even fight back if one should happen to catch her and try to cart the young Lady back to her family. Eventually the guards simply gave up trying to catch her and simply kept near enough to her troublesome and sometimes criminal activities to save her when she needed it.
When she came of age she was promptly married off to an equally young count and seemed to make an effort to look more presentable, keeping to schedules and showing in public when duty called for it. She seemed to become pregnant and over the months was increasingly more bedridden with the difficulties of it, seen less in public until finally her death was announced as a result of the birth.
In truth she had escaped the life of a noblewoman, faking both pregnancy and death to seem a tragic yet typical demise for someone so young. Her name was changed and hair dyed to hide her identity, taking on work as a mercenary and guard to pick up any money that might help supplement the moderate wealth she had stolen in her escape. She has entirely left the old life she had behind, never going back to the county where her family had held so much power, also seeing that any nobles she might deal with be so far unrelated to her old life that even a slip of her name might go unnoticed. The only goal in life she pursues now is adventure, wanting to see as much of the world as she is able to rather than being caged to a life she considered utterly constricting.
