It's often been joked that between the pair of them, dragons and humans have fucked everything in the Monster Manual. Matthew just happens to be the natural extrapolation of that simple fact. The more unscrupulous among the dragons have a reputation for doing unsavory things with the maidens they so frequently partake of... and not particularly caring about the consequences. Unfortunately for Matthew, when said consequences involve inhuman children being born to those in the nobility, the results aren't pleasant.
Matthew's been in a combination of living on the streets and various shelters for most of his life, with the former being more common, given his... obvious inhumanity. His skin is covered in black scales in places, particularly around the joints, a pair of horns poking out from shaggy black hair. The half-breed's body shifts to a digitigrade configuration below the waist, bearing a thick tail and a pair of legs that end in draconic talons... The wings protruding from his back make his nature all the more obvious. He's commonly dressed in ragged clothing, for modesty's sake, but when not in polite society he's content to eschew it entirely.
Which does bring one to the question: Why is he here? Well, to be frank, he loves it at the Hollow. He doesn't need to fear much from being eaten (what with black dragons being acid-proof), and people here tend not to judge. For a half-breed looking for someplace to call home... It ain't half bad.
*It's worth noting that, as Matthew draws his lineage from a black dragon, he is effectively immune to acid. One would need alternate methods of digestion to even make an attempt of it.
