Kitan

Kitan the Dragonheart. In the southern regions of Ivalice, the name is legend.
Several years ago, the name of Dragonheart belonged to the head of a clan that earned itself a reputation for shaking things up. The Dragonheart and a group of five of his closest allies waged a bloody war against Clan Vici, a clan that had taken over much of the Jylland region by force, using crime to keep many people afraid of them. The Dragonheart earned his moniker during that time, wielding powerful magicks woven from draconic power that rivalled even those of the Judges' in strength. It was said that he could not fall in battle, and indeed, those who survived clashing with him often swore that they'd killed him, watched him fall, seen the light leave his eyes... Only to watch him rise again. Many swore that he was protected by the gods themselves, some making even more outlandish claims that death itself was afraid of him. Of course, his protection was more due to judicious application of contingent resurrection spells, but he certainly did nothing to discourage the rumors of his 'invincibility'.

His spear carved a path through the clan's ranks to the very top, the six of them systematically dismantling Vici from the bottom, up. In the end, the clan's heads were slain, their infrastructure disabled, and, mysteriously, their slayers vanished, seemingly without a trace.

Fifteen years later, Kitan is very much retired, assuming a quiet life in an out-of-the-way village, working simply to enjoy his hard-earned retirement. One should never underestimate him, however; his skills are as sharp as they ever were. He is perfectly willing to defend his chosen home with his life, and those who have come under his protection have come to know him as a great worker, a loyal friend, and a peerless guardian.

Despite his bloody past, Kitan is a surprisingly gentle man, advocating pacifism except in the face of danger to what one holds dear. He's usually found doing odd jobs around his village, or occasionally venturing into the city for a bit of drink, or watching a chocobo race, or something similar. Without the dragon-scale armor he was known for, he's barely recognizable. Just another bangaa out on the town, nothing special. His appearance isn't terribly unique. True, he's remarkably fit, orange scales revealing a toned physique, built for speed, endurance, and strength, and should one take his loose-fitting tunic off, they'd find a network of scars, old wounds that even magic couldn't fully heal, but other than that, he seems like a fairly nondescript specimen of his race.

How Kitan made his way to the Nexus is up for debate. Scenes with him can, of course, have the setting altered to suit the needs of the scene, whether that involves playing him at a younger age, or a lower level of experience. I am flexible in most things.

Abilities and Equipment

Kitan is a potent combatant. He has experience in the Dragoon, Master Monk, and Bishop classes, but where he truly shines is in the class exclusive to him, the Tai Lung.
The Tai Lung wields the spear as a focus for potent magicks, imbuing the blade with ancient words of power and releasing the energy contained therein.
