The tabby has had quite a time of things lately. Things have changed a lot for him, not all of it good, but a lot of it for the best. He's had lots of time to reflect on things, and has experienced some very literal character development. He could almost say he's...happy? Huh. Imagine that.

You see, he was born a regular ordinary human in the world all of you were born it, the plain, ordinary, boring world of humans and only humans, without magic, without spirits, without any of the exciting assets this world of our characters contains. Then one fateful evening in high school, in a moment of rock-bottom depression, he wished upon a star. His wish? To be able to transform into any creature of fantasy that he desires. The problem with wishes, however, is how they so often tend to backfire--after first transforming, he discovered all too late that humans are not creatures of fantasy, and thus could not return to his human form. After a series of unspeakably unfortunate events, he was given the opportunity to transition to this world of fantasy, begin a new life as a teenager in a loving elven family, the forme closest to human. The universe adjusted itself, and there he was, here in this world of fantasy, where he could begin a new life for himself free of the horrors of the human world.

Now ninety-some years have passed, and through many trials and tribulations, Kamunt has managed to find something resembling peace, taking up residence in a sprawling metropolis where all sorts of creatures live together, both human, anthro, humanoid and otherwise. Kamunt keeps his shapeshifting abilities mostly secret, as there is a general mistrust of shapeshifters even to this day. Tension between the species is very much still relevant, though the days of the riots are mostly over, but segregation in the city is rather prevalent. The humans have their own area they primarily congregate, as do the humanoids--elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins and the like--and so do the anthros. There are plenty of intermixed areas and there are no entirely exclusive areas, but cities will be cities. He mostly spends his time in his Cat Forme nowadays, having felt as though that seems to match his personality most at the present. But each of his formes tug at his consciousness on a regular basis. His every day is a struggle just to remain himself, and to this day, he struggles to...

...Wait, what? He doesn't feel like he's struggling all that much anymore. Huh. Funny how that works sometimes. After realizing that he doesn't actually have to struggle with choosing between fantasy and reality, he accepted that he can have both. You can mature, grow up and be a healthy, well-adjusted individual and still indulge in the realm of fantasy, pretend to be something you aren't. In discovering this, he finally regained the ability to transform back into his human form. But still he hunts for a way to return to our regular human world, but now he hunts without the dark spectre of an existential struggle hanging over him. Nice, right?
