You may have heard others talk about having a long and complicated history, but Kacylia likely has many of them beaten. At some 6750 ISY (that’s just over 11 millennia for you non Imperials), Kacylia predates all the other living or deceased sapients in the Empire she calls home. Kacylia was born in the early centuries of the Avalon Dynasty, upon the namesake planet for the Dynasty. Kacylia wasn’t born as she is now, although she wasn’t born fully natural either. Initially, Kacylia was a heavily enhanced child, equipped with the most advanced biological synthetics available to her kind.
As a young Avalonian, Kacylia spent much of her time alone, with her own mother. She rarely saw her father or anyone else outside scientists and approved playmates. You might say she was “destined for greatness”, though in reality, it was more thrust upon her long before she hatched. Through her younger years, Kacylia was groomed for leadership, with the intent being to install her as part of the Council of Seven, The leaders of the Avalon Dynasty. Avalon was undergoing a major change in their structure, moving from either elected officials or blood monarchies, into an age of leaders bread and built for their roles.
Avalon itself was built on what historians called seeds, caches of materials and artefacts believed to be left for them by some higher being. These very caches are what lead to the technologies that created Kacylia. One word had become synonymous with whatever intelligence left these seeds behind, Avalon. And so planet, civilization and people were named after this unseen force that left its name all over their world.
Kacylia herself has devoted much of her free time to studying, and searching for seeds upon Avalon and nearby worlds. And through the millennia she’s wandered her home, and through space she’s found a lot about her namesake. Kacylia’s current appearance is the product of her earlier research into the seeds, and their bio-technology. Being created from these seeds, Kacylia sees herself as more a child of whoever came before, rather than the Avalonians who raised and assembled her.
Over her millennia, Kacylia has had a huge impact on not only Avalon, but other races she’s contacted. Primarily her influence spreads to the Empire with which her Dynasty joined with. The so called “Oligarchic Pan Galactic Hibiki Empire” quickly garnered both her and her fellow councillor’s favour for its similarities to their own Dynasty. And while much younger, the more expansive empire was allowed to slowly absorb and merge with them over the next few millennia.
Full integration did not occur until Revika succeeded the previous Empress and put into place the High Council. Kacylia became one of the primary members of the newly formed Council, holding an equal position of power to Revika. Their new allies also built themselves upon similar seeds, though took the technologies in their own direction, keeping distinct from Avalon. Though both sides had creatures similar to Kacylia that strengthened bonds.
Kacylia herself has had many of her own offspring, to varying degrees of success and failure. Many of her children dispersed into space, to seek out their own fortune after reaching maturity. Though her three most noteworthy have kept by her side. Antinov a more recent son, Milena Antinov’s direct younger brother, and a much more mysterious daughter that rarely makes herself know, keeping to the reach of space untouched by the Empire or known factions.
Kacylia might not hold much attachment to the parents she knew as a child, however, she herself has an extremely motherly demeanour. Both to her actual offspring and to others she feels close to, or protective of. Playfully, those who know her well often refer to her as “Bird Mother”, a fitting nickname due to her avian appearance, and one of her strongest traits of personality.
While Kacylia has a nurturing, caring and motherly side, she also has much darker desires. Like many creatures that unite under the classification of Seraph synthetics, Kacylia has an immense hunger, compounded by wild instincts from her Avalonian heritage. Like others of her kind, she’s been known to descend upon rich worlds, and over time consume everything, from resources to animals and native sapients. And while other Seraphs show remorse, Kacylia thinks little of those consumed to further her own ends.
At times Kacylia can be quite sadistic, contrasting with her normally gentle motherly nature. At times, this extends as a twisted form of love to her offspring. And in some cases, has resulted in her consuming her own offspring. Avalonians naturally go through several life stages, starting out as more feral creatures when young, and progressing to upright walking sapients, then as age sets in, returning to a wild and feral state. In Kacylia, this process stalled out when her body went full synthetic, leaving her in between the sapient and bestial phases of Avalonian life.
Ever in between wild and civilized, Kacylia often keeps to herself and her closest family. Aside from where her duties as a high councillor require otherwise. This has lead to Kacylia spending long periods following her children around to guide and encourage them to flourish. Though a lot of the time, Kacylia encourages their more dark desires. In her later life, Kacylia spends much of her time with Antinov, and consequently Milena aboard the Resolut, a ship commanded by Antinov, and part of the 24th Autonomous. For the most part Kacylia is a passive observer, but as with all her little ones, if they need her protection, she will step in.

Kacylia reff by Nazuu |
A fair bit of Kacylia’s anatomy is similar to other Avalonians, though by bay the majority is Seraph in origin. Being one of the oldest Seraphs currently known, Kacylia has provided the basis for many others of her kind. As far as is known Kacylia is the first organically based biological Seraph, though she is not the only one of her kind. Resiline, Revika and Alice_LeBlanc are all similarly based Seraphs. Kacylia is thought to be the direct inspiration, and basis of Resiline, as both serve a similar set of functions and design elements. However, since Resiline’s supposed creator was lost, along with her memories of early life, it’s unknown just how she and Kacylia’s designs are related.
Kacylia’s body is translucent, letting you see into her inner workings to varying degrees. Overall she uses a structure that’s based upon ferro-fluids and non-Newtonian fluids. This gives her unrivalled flexibility, and a near unrivalled ability to self repair. With no joints to damage or un-socket, or solid bone to snap, causing lasting injury can only be achieved through massive trauma. And while Kacylia seems soft all over, much like other Seraphs, she has reactive defences. Her outer skin is sheer hardening, reaching to impacts and redirecting energy back into projectiles and spreading it over her skin.
In the event of a puncture, her body is able to rapidly close the wound, eliminate foreign matter and re-knit any internal damage. Kacylia’s musculature and hide are both based upon a structure that readily re assembles itself when cut or broken. This combined with both micro and nano machines in various structures and systems in her body designed to suture and assist the structure in re-knitting allows for her rapid regeneration.
The cables extending from her head like hair, and the ones linked into the base of her spine serve more than just a decorative purpose. Much like Resiline, Kacylia is a bio-neural processor and can be hooked into larger computer systems to assist and run them. Kacylia herself is primarily focused on processing, but also has the capacity to store her own data and work independently. Her upper tendrils handle optical and electromagnetic data transfer directly to her brain, while the two larger, lower tendrils function to intake coolant, nutrients and energy.
Working at full capacity, Kacylia’s own cooling cannot fully handle the heat generated, nor can she sustain the energy intake of her full capacity. To reach her full potential in predictive analysis or combat management Kacylia requires a support facility. Alternatively other synthetics can connect to her and assist in cooling and power generation, some of Kacylia’s offspring are engineered towards just such a purpose. Though that’s not the only reason Kacylia connects to others of her kind.
Alongside connecting to support systems so she can act as a processor, Kacylia can directly connect with other Seraphs via her head cables. This lets her share thoughts, feelings and memories with her Seraph kin. This mental connection is heavily utilized, and essential to Seraph breeding and intimacy. Somewhere amongst all the cables, and feathers on her head, Kacylia also has a set of antennae. These serve a similar purpose to the cables, though over greater distances. The amount of data that can be shared wirelessly is a lot less, at a significantly slower speed, however, it’s useful during combat.
Like her other Seraph kin, Kacylia has the ability to affect both dark matter and dark energy, giving her a degree of control on space-time in her surrounding area. Like other seraphs, she can fold space, bridge between folded space, and cause relatively powerful distortions in local gravity. Similar others of her kind, these abilities come at the cost of huge amounts of energy. For the most part, Kacylia gets her energy from direct input of electrical energy, or anti-matter reactions. Kacylia is also able to glean energy from other sources, such as the potential energy in chemicals.
Unlike her non organic Seraph kin, Kacylia can readily sustain her day to day functions, and even store up power for more advanced functions all off a diet of organic matter. This of course fuels her desire to consume, and makes her a more regular predator of organics then inorganic Seraphs. In her later life, Kacylia’s needs for organic sustenance are provided for her by her children, or others brining her offerings of prisoners, or exotic creatures to enjoy. When consuming something, Kacylia also analyzes it, so new and exotic creatures are favourable for giving her new information to pore over.
Unlike most organics, Kacylia’s body does not use a genetic code embedded in each cell as its sole means of cell division. In Kacylia’s body, such vital information is stored in master cells through her body that are inorganically based. These master repositories of her blueprint degrade extremely slowly. This function was taken from the Avalonian genetics, but has been further modified so the repositories regenerate each other, preventing any form of degradation.
In normal Avalonians, with time they undergo a reversion to a more feral state due to foreign materials making it into their genetic repositories. In Kacylia’s case, nonphysical data is stored in a non-degrading medium used to perfectly maintain her blueprint. Aside from self alterations over her millennia of life, Kacylia has remained genetically stable. The processes used in Kacylia’s body serve as the basis of the other, younger bio-organic Seraphs and non Seraph synthetics alike.
As you might expect from a creature with such a high intake and output of energy, Kacylia’s body can get extremely hot. Internally her internal temperature hovers around 90-100 °c on average, and can hit temperatures in excess of 600 °c during exertion. In extreme cases, due to her translucent body, you can see her heat dissipation system glowing inside her, conduits brining molten salts from her core systems, then exchanging the heat into her wings to dissipate it.
Like other Seraphs, Kacylia does have non attached wing-parts, however, in her case they are far less integral to her normal functions, and serve mostly combative purposes. Unless she’s likely to have to fight, Kacylia leaves her winglets behind to conserve energy. Having to levitate, or carry them physically consumes a fair amount of energy in both cases, and it’s a lot more convenient to go without.

Digestive system:
Mouth and beak:
Kacylia's beak is sharp, hard and smooth, with a lustrous and glossy surface, almost resembling a buffed opaque obsidian. Equally stunning to that large break is her long tongue, able to extend out as long as she is tall. The snakelike limb is prehensile and quite strong like you’d see in other Avalonians. It has a skeletal structure of fero-fluids and non-Newtonian fluids just like the rest of her body, giving it structure, but retaining flexibility.
Like other Avalonians, that tongue can taste the air to supplement her nose. Though her nose is more acute then most Avalonians, who rely more on their tongue to track scents then their noses. As you might expect, as an Avalonian, Kacylia has teeth within that beak. Three sets of sharp conical teeth, and three sets of molars, all to facilitate her omnivorous diet. Like the rest of the Avalonians, Kacylia is an opportunistic eater, even more-so in her case. Almost nothing is off the menu for Kacylia, synthetics, organics, raw materials, all of it can be put to use by her body.
The back of Kacylia’s throat is nice and wide to allow for large meals to be bolted down whole. When eating it’s not uncommon for Kacylia to use her tongue and quick bobs of her head to swallow prey down. This is likely a familiar concept to those familiar with birds of prey. Kacylia is easily able to swallow something up to half her size, assuming it's not overly wide. And assuming it’s a more narrow prey, even something over half her total volume could be snugly fit inside.
Kacylia’s jaw muscles are quite strong, and coupled with her hard, sharp beak and teeth, she's able to bite through most materials with relative ease. Flesh and bone provide little resistance, since her jaws are designed with armour and other creatures as resilient as her in mind. Despite how adeptly her beak can cut and crush, she’s also incredibly nimble with it, able to sue it to nibble, nip and preen without causing any damage.

Crop and stomachs:
Kacylia, like all Avalonians has a 4 chambered stomach system. Starting off with a crop, then two stomachs, and ending in a gizzard. Though unlike her Avalonian brethren, Kacylia’s digestive chemistry and functions are more closely related to other Seraphs. Her crop is mostly smooth walled, with little finger-like protrusions lining the lower part like you see in other Avalonian’s guts. These protrusions give a place for microbes used in digestion to shelter and flourish. However, her stomachs are lined with larger, longer and prehensile tendrils.
Only two other creatures share this trait, Alice_LeBlanc and Resiline. The tendrils both work to shelter digestive microbes (synthetic and organic) and help agitate and break down meals. The tendrils are sharp tipped, and borrow into meals softened in the crop. Once inside the flesh they start to pump digestive fluids into the victim, while siphoning off nutrients that would be lost later in processing. The stomach tendrils can also be used to filter pre-refined fuel consumed before it gets polluted by the digestive process.
Kacylia, like both Seraphs and Avalonians has a slow digestive process. It relies upon chemicals, micro organisms and fauna that live within her guts to process her food. However, this gives her the biggest yield across the widest range of sustenance, allowing for greater adaptability. Kacylia’s body is also capable of taking in pre-refined nutrients via some of her hook-up cables.

Gizzard and intestines:
Following after Kacylia’s two stomachs, she has a long U shaped gizzard just below. This organ is lined with tough, sharp denticles and is used to grind and pulverized food softened in the chambers above. The denticles of Kacylia’s gizzard make it the toughest chamber in her digestive tract, along with the powerful muscles that line its walls. Most materials cannot last for long under the assault of its walls and other materials swallowed and retained within to help it process what she eats. Oddly softer items make it through with less damage then solid ones, since the chamber passes them through while retaining tougher things for further processing.
Food in the gizzard is often passed back and forth from gizzard to stomach to process it well, sometimes prey can survive many passings from stomach to gizzard, if they are unlucky enough, and tough enough. Once the food has been significantly broken down, or has been too resilient to fully process higher up, food pours down into Kacylia's ceacum where it will stay and ferment for anywhere from a week to a year, the less she eats, the longer its contents are allowed to slowly ferment.
|
Rump and bowels:
Inside Kacylia's Ceacum and bowels there are a multitude of parasites and bacteria, they feast upon her food and turn it all into useable materials for her over time, the downside of this is the process generates lots and lots of gas. However thanks to her diet, lower gut chemistry, and potent musk, the regular emissions of gassy by-product aren’t too bad. For the most part the scent is affected by what’s been eaten, smelling like a more potent, fermented version of her meals, mixed with her powerful musk.
Most of the absorption of nutrients happens in Kacylia's rather lengthy bowel, the majority of her intestinal length is her bowels, to maximize the time food is allowed to ferment and absorb. Like other Avalonians, Kacylia has a short section of small intestine with very long villi and a spiral valve to siphon off the more delicate nutrients that would be lost in the long fermentation in her bowels. This section lies between the ceacum and bowel and only makes up a fifth of her total intestinal length.
The overall volume of Kacylia's bowels is impressive, usually letting her only need to offload waste every 5-6 meals, depending on how well she eats. Though most of what Kacylia unloads isn’t exactly waste as excess materials unneeded by her body. Commonly this by-product of her gut is used along with other materials to build nests, feed young or can even be re-eaten when food is scarcer for further nourishment.
Kacylia tends to eat a lot in one sitting whenever she can, stuffing herself regularly to the point she simply dumps the excess of food less than half way digested as a processed mass of food bits, making the by-product of her gut even better as a source of food for her offspring. When overeating so excessively, what comes out of her more resembles a thick mass of partly digested, well fermented food, studded into thick, fibrous balls of the more processed parts of her meals.
Kacylia's gut ends with a particularly large and muscular pucker, it's deep folded ridges always glistening enticingly. A thick coat of mostly clear greasy musk is always present on her hole, thanks to the four very large musk glands just inside the pucker, keeping it well lubed, scented and releasing a pleasing, intoxicating pheromone rich scent she often lets waft from under her tail. When exceptionally well fed Kacylia's musk glands become overly productive, sometimes to the point that her oily musk will start to drip from her hole and fill the air intoxicatingly.
The better fed Kacylia is, the better her scent, growing ever more enticing and pleasing. It's notable to mention that Kacylia's musk contains a fair amount of potent amphetamines, enough to get a pleasing high from, and possibly become addicted to the bird's pleasing scent. When Kacylia passes gas, a second set of internal glands reflexively spray musk, aerosolizing it and filling the air with the heavy, pleasing scent. Teasing her hole often results in squirting of her musk oils, not that she can't consciously squirt them either to tease and flirt, or even mark things.

Kacylia, as you might expect from her nickname, is a very motherly woman. Even when it comes to other’s little ones, Kacylia cares for them and tries not to harm them if she can. For many younger then herself she can readily fall into the role of mother if she feels it’s needed, or wanted. Though with her motherly aspects, sometimes she’s overbearing to her actual offspring. Kacylia is very nurturing and grows very attached to her little ones, and guides them to become attached to her as well. Very often you can find her close by her offspring, guiding them, reassuring them and keeping them company. Due to her spending so much time with her little ones, most of Kacylia’s offspring end up overly attached to their mother, though not unhealthily so.
Kacylia herself is usually calm, collected and reserved, even in tense situations. While she can get passionate, it’s rarely in anger and usually driven by feelings of love, lust and pleasure. One thing that can get Kacylia’s ire is harm or threats towards her offspring, lovers or close friends. Kacylia isn’t one to enter a blind rage when angered, but in anger she can be quite malevolent and destructive. Usually stopping the immediate threat to her offspring isn’t enough to calm her, and only completely dispatching those who posed the threat will allow Kacylia to return to her usual calm demeanour. Kacylia’s passion can be just as dangerous as her anger though, for weaker creatures. When exited and hungry she tends to care little about significantly lesser creatures who may perish during her enjoyment.
Far from malevolent towards smaller, weaker and shorter lived creatures, Kacylia simply views herself and others on a higher level. She consumes, uses and kills with no more malevolence or thought than any other creature that consumes to fulfil its needs. For the most part, anything significantly lesser then Kacylia is categorized as a source of resources, unless they can prove more interesting or useful. Typically, most Imperial races are held in a higher regard then food, with the exception of what she considers the weakest and least worthwhile races.
As one might expect, Kacylia has taken many lovers over her time, never having another Seraph who matched what she needed from a mate. Over her long life her lovers have included many of the longer lived Imperial species, other Avalonians and some non Imperial species she’s come across. Generally race or longevity factors little into her selection of a mate, so long as they can satisfy what she desires. Kacylia is a very passionate lover, desiring mates with just as much passion for her. Kacylia has a push and pull dominance with her mates, taking turns leading as her and her partner’s moods ebb and flow. Though Kacylia likes to consider herself as an equal to anyone she takes as a mate.
Kacylia is not against taking her own young as mates, though none have so far settled into true mate status. For many of those who became mated with Kacylia, it happened in a flash of passion and love, long before words were shared. When she chooses a mate, it’s done much like a wild creature would, which in some cases leads to shorter lived relationships, and in others ones that transcend most human concepts of love. Kacylia prefers mateships built upon true passion, and tries to seek out such relations, rare as they may be. Often her children fill the place of mates if she is in between partners, sating her need for intimacy and closeness. However, Kacylia rarely indulges in the most intimate acts outside her family circle or her mates.
Voice:
Kacylia’s voice is a soft but powerful voice, always speaking in a songful tone when she speaks her native tongue. Kacylia’s native Avalonian dialect is a total language much like that of other Seraphs, however the specifics of the ancient Avalonian language are different. A non native speaker who understands ancient Serpah would be able to pick up on some of it, but not enough to hold a full conversation. Kacylia’s native tongue carries over to her speaking other languages as well, causing her to accentuate sentences in an almost songful manner when speaking happily or with great passion.
Given her size, the power of her voice is incredible, carrying around when she calls out in song, but without being overtly deep or harsh. Being an Avalonian Kacylia has quite the ability to vary her voice and copy the voices and sounds she hears. Though unlike her son Antinov Kacylia usually keeps to a singular, very identifiable voice. Kacylia is usually well spoken, avoiding contractions when speaking in English and using a more formal dialect regardless of language spoken. Her speaking patterns often give her an authoritative, or alien vibe compared to more casual speakers.

Kacylia outfits reff by Nazu |
Clothing:
Like many other non combat Seraphs, Kacylia wears external armour to supplement her defences. Her non combative garb is somewhat more unique amongst Seraph kind, who mostly wear robe-like coverings on their bodies. Kacylia takes a similar approach to Revika in terms of self decoration, wearing elaborate outfits to accentuate her body, a behaviour only tangentially shared by seraphs like Asaneth who wears outfits made by her sister Revika. Kacylia seeks to bring out her natural features by dressing up, leading to somewhat more revealing and close fitting clothing in her outfits.
Kacylia designs her own outfits, taking inspiration from her body’s colours and shapes as well as traditional Avalonian fashion. Her every day dress is a more formal gown bearing the Avalon dynasty emblem. A fitted white dress forms the base while translucent leggings and gloves match the transparent offshoots on the waist. A headdress and jewellery ties the outfit together, while carrying roots from her position as the head of the council of 7. Her headdress is a modernized version of those traditionally worn by council members during meetings, and a statement of her continued leadership of the Avalonians.
In battle, Kacylia wears a set of armour reminiscent of her every day garb, with elements shared among Seraph exo-armour. Some elements of traditional Avalonian plate armours can be seen in the deigns, particularly in the leggings and arms. Though such Avalonian elements have melded with Seraph and Imperial designs as well. In battle Kacylia relies primarily on long range assault bits and shield bits, since she lacks raw physical strength of the inorganic Seraphs. If expecting trouble, Kacylia keeps her winglets close for protection. Outside of more risky situations Kacylia prefers to leave her external weapons systems deactivated and apart from herself to save energy.
Other items:
|
Shield bits:
Like other Seraphs, Kacylia uses remotely controlled weapon and defensive systems. Commonly the external individual parts of these systems are referred to as ‘bits’. Similar to other long range fighting Seraphs such as Niu Kacylia uses both defensive shield bits and long range weaponry.
The shield bits themselves are mostly plates of heavy armour designed to be moved into the path of attacks. They commonly use the same methods of propulsion and remaining aloft the Seraphs use to levitate and fly. This of course makes them very energy intensive to maintain.
Relying on manipulation of gravity and dark energy, other objects can often get swept up in the forces keeping the bits aloft. While the winglets are kept aloft by gravity manipulation, their precise manoeuvring is provided by more standard propulsion and reaction control systems. |
