Romanian transfer college student from the post-biohazard era when a mutagen plague was released into the world by a crazed radical doomsday cult. Didnt do what they hoped, and instead some folks are born with a more... malleable DNA which makes them appear monsterous or animal-like. A forced evolutionary virus, as it was dubbed, though didnt do much in evolution beyond making a bunch of cat people, lizardfolk, and the like. On the bright side, those infected had about 10 years knocked off their current ages in some cases!

Jace is a second gen mutant. His father, a Romanian gypsy untouched by the plague, his mother an Armenian librarian and lay-historian and cat mutant. Obviously Jace takes after his mother...

Not much is known for most second genners, they tend to be dealt a general wild-card for the gene lottery. some develop crazy abilities like rubber bones, others have varied mutations. they can spread the plague through bites sometimes, but its uncommon enough that those effected arent exactly quarantined for it.

Jace's additional mutation? not the most effective one, but a high burning metabolism and by extention faster healing than a garden variety human can-- this of course comes with an appetite to match. boy cant keep weight very well and will slim down if he takes it easy on the food some weeks. makes shopping for clothes a real pain in the ass. THIS of course being all thats known so far; Jace may yet develop more mutations as he gets older or explores himself a bit more actively.

Til then, the cats content to muck about with nerdy pursuits; drawing, reading trashy fantasy novels, watching cartoons in excess, video games, looking at dubious sites on the interwebs, stuffing his face with american food, and generally being cattish.

Speaking of being cattish, dont take it too hard if sometimes the boy can come off cool-- generally he cant help that. cats are genetically coded to be lazy assholes! Course that also means he generally hates waterbottles...

All in all, Jace Romanov is a pretty alright kid. He's far from his native home in the Carpathians and here to study... wait, what the hell WAS Jace studying at college anyway? Eh, give it some time- he'll figure it all out eventually.
