Standing at 8'7", body covered in black fur with a white belly and chest, white eye patches and a white stripe around her muzzle, Eselin was a whole lot of donkey, American Mammoth Jackstock at that. Beneath that fur rippled muscles, toned in the forges after a lifetime of smithing from a young age. Green eyes peered out at the world, often hard even to those she knew.
Adorning her body was a heavy leather kilt that came down past her knees, followed by matching braces on her calves that covered from knee to hoof top. If she was working, her breasts would be bound with a large wet leather strap and then covered with a long leather apron to hold her tools and protect her from stray sparks, leaving bare arms to show the many mistakes of scars in her learning process, as well as the larger ones upon her back, leaving thin lines in the fur. Off duty, and out and about she would instead have a simple leather tunic on her torso, her clothes all that of utility and necessity rather than any for show.
Her demeanor could be considered gruff at times, though she was fair in pricing her wares and was never without work, which often kept her too busy to go out and socialize, just the way preferred it. There were moments now and then that her softer side would show, children often congregating around her forge and shop in the morning. Those that were allowed entry, would then leave late in the evening, tired and sore but with a belly full of stew and bread after a hard day's work. Those that tried to enter her property before getting permission and repeatedly tested her patience would see the anger and strength of the smith as she sent them home harassed at best, bruised and aching at worst. Some parents came by seeking justice for their spoiled brat, the loudest and worse of them often not seen for some time, if at all. Others would ask forgiveness and often those children would become her best workers.
Her home itself was part of her workplace, all three built out of solid stone with shale shingles on the roof, ensuring that no errant breeze would send a spark into a blaze outside where it belonged. The front consisted of the shop itself on the left, tools displayed upon the walls and counter behind iron barred windows. On the shop's immediate right was the forge space, furnace set in the back with wide double doors to allow the air in, and another door leading to the shop behind the counter and her house proper. Looking at the place, it was almost a miniature fortress of a home, and while there was little to truly steal, it was hers and she sought to keep it that way. Her home itself was a simple three rooms, a living room connected to an open kitchen, and a small bedroom with a washroom. Nothing more than she needed with a back porch and large rocking chair that she relaxed in. Rarely did she leave her property for any reason. Often she would have food and supplies delivered, paying coinage or service for the extra hassle it may cause the seller. If that couldn't be done, then one or two of her more trustworthy young apprentices would be sent out instead to gather what was needed.
The town itself was too small to be a proper city but too large to be a simple village, mainly due to its location between the more grander cities. Those that lived there were primarily farmers, crafters, and a few innkeepers spaced out to allow more disagreeable traders to avoid others. Every year though the place did seem to grow, older residents predicting the likelihood of the town becoming a major trading hub of its own in due time.
