Damu

At first glance, it is just a large mound of grass and leaves. There are a few saplings growing from it, and flowers here and there. But upon closer inspection, this all is laid out in a strange arrangement, and....it suddenly begins moving! This is no ordinary flora! It is a living being! It glances at you, and you realize what you thought was grass throughout the forest was in fact the the florish of the creature's back, snaking around trees. You can't even tell where it ends. The body is serpentine in shape, but it appears to be made of plant matter, and it is not breathing. "Who dares to enter the domain of Damu?" a wooden voice, sounding as old as the trees, and deep with the dtrength of an redwood. You can only hope that this creature, this thing, is friendly....

Loving sunlight, he becomes quite sluggish when there is no longer light to absorb, but not immobile. Get too close, and he can still strike. Water is a favorite of his too, as are any liquids. He can soak them up, and add them to himself, convert them into his liquid pollen [snerk], or use them to sate himself during times of hunger. Any liquid will do, if it is slime, acid, milk, what be it. Treat him respectfully and well, and you might not end up becoming one with nature. TO ward him off, fire is a good choice, but it takes a very large blaze to ward him away from a meal. His "scales" are tougher than iron-wood, and he can send tendrils from his shaft to wrap around people and pull them in. His gullet is like that of a picther plant, slippery and slick, and leads to a place often times just as deadly. He can shift his throat to undulate like those of mouth breathers however, or use the tendrils within his body to restrain or move a meal.

This massive being at one point was reported to be in the range of 140 feet long. That report has yet to be confirmed, but whatever he is, this serpent of the grass is incredibly large, having taken down full sized adult dragons on his own.
