Wander into a certain part of a certain, remote jungle, and you may stumble across an odd cave in the side of a hill, with a small path worn to the entrance. Push aside the colorful, floor-length, beaded curtain to enter, and you’ll meet the cave’s owner, Ariki.
Ariki is a monkey, of indeterminate species. Her fit, curvy body is mostly covered in short, brown fur...mostly being the key word. She lacks fur on her hands, feet, face, ears, butt, and from her breasts to her groin, and the smooth skin exposed by these bare spots is lightly tanned. She also has more human-like hair on her head, which is a dark red and kept in a long ponytail. Finally, she has a long, prehensile tail; it’s quite strong, able to support her weight on its own (albeit uncomfortably), and is quite dextrous.
She doesn't usually wear much unless she has to. Her standard attire simply consists of assorted jewelry she's either received as payment, or made herself, while her travelling gear consists mainly of a pouched belt containing potions or reagents, as well as a leather loincloth and a top made of leaves if she's going somewhere prudish.
Ariki is a potion-maker by trade, intimately familiar with the properties, both physical and magical, of most of the jungle’s plants. She uses them to make a variety of concoctions, mostly potions and poultices to heal various wounds and afflictions, but she has more...specialized fare available on request.
It should come as no surprise that some of her mixtures have...kinkier uses. Her brews and powders can increase the libido and stamina, turn the consumer into a giant or shrink them down to mere inches, change their gender, change their flavor, and more. She doesn’t advertise these creations, and mostly keeps them to herself...but if you get on her good side, she might just share!
Her home and shop
Her cave is where she brews her potions. In the center is a firepit, with cauldrons, in several sizes, nearby. The walls are lined with wooden shelves containing bowls of reagents, mortars and pestles, and completed brews. The completed brews are mostly kept in hollow gourds, wooden cups and leather flasks. There are actually very few glass bottles; glass-blowers are rare in the jungle, so she only uses glass bottles when a potion absolutely requires it.
She doesn’t always charge money for her potions, although that is certainly accepted. She’ll trade a potion for some hard-to-find herbs, some valuable trinket, or even a favor...although one should always be wary about the latter! She does have a mischievous streak…
At the back of the cave, blocked by a plain, brown leather flap, is a ladder, woven from sturdy jungle vines. This leads up through inside of the trunk of a massive jungle tree; the passage is kept clean, and the tree kept healthy,by a special, waxy potion rubbed into the walls. At the top of the ladder is an opening, tall enough to climb through, leading into her home.
Ariki’s actual living quarters are in a decently-sized tree-house, built around the tree’s massive trunk and supported on its branches. It’s obscured from the ground, and well-camouflaged in general; it’s built from smaller branches, and the roof is covered with, and partially made of, jungle leaves. The windows are simple openings in the structure. During the day, the insects can largely be kept at bay with a special plant sap, smeared around the window, that repels most insects. At night, when the insects are more numerous and persistent, heavy leather flaps keep them at bay.
The treehouse is rather sparsely decorated, as she spends most of her time in the shop or out in the jungle. The only real fixture is her bed; a simple hammock made of vines, with large jungle leaves woven into the netting for comfort. The vegetation doesn’t rot, remaining strong and fresh, due to another potion. Besides that, there are a few lidded clay pots around for storage, and not a whole lot else! Her bathing and...other activities are largely done in a nearby river and an out-of-the-way hole in the ground beneath a rock, respectively.
