Like most gryphons, Ailbhe (pronounced like "Alva") has the body of a big cat, and the head, wings and talons of a bird. Unlike most gryphons, however, Ailbhe's hind legs end in scaly toes with talons instead of paws. The gryphon's entire body is colored with vibrant blue plumage; their belly and throat are much deeper than their back and neck. Additionally, their facial feathers are black, and those black feathers reach down and around their throat to form a collar of sorts. On their wings, their primaries and secondaries are tipped white, while their tertials are not. On tail feathers, their upper tail coverts are the same blue as their back, while their under-tail coverts are white; their deck feathers share the same color as the primaries on their wings. The gryphon's beak is an inky grey hue, and their eyes are like a pair of shining amber spheres

Ailbhe is average size for a theriomorphic gryphon; if one were to measure them, they would see that they only comes up to 3 feet, 6 inches (106 centimeters) at the withers. Their build is leans on the slender side, having more lean, toned muscle than bulk or fat. Combined with their stature, this makes their wingspan of 12 feet, six inches (3.8 meters) look large for a creature their size. Were they to lay flat on the ground, their total body length from the end of their beak to the tip of their tail feathers would be about 9 feet, 2 inches (2.79 meters), 38 inches (96cm) of which are made up of their tail feathers.
